Residential Visits

At Hethersett Woodside, we offer two residential opportunities for our children during their time with us.

Year 2 - Hautbois House

Hautbois House is set on the Norfolk Broads and is a trip the children never forget! This fun-filled, action-packed adventure is the perfect way for children to experience their first overnight stay away from home. With a variety of engaging activities that challenge them to step out of their comfort zones, the trip encourages personal growth and teamwork. It’s a wonderful introduction to residential trips, helping ease children into future experiences, while giving them the confidence to be the best they can be. The children love it every single year and create memories with their peers to last them throughout school!

In Year 4, we take children away to Whitwell Hall and in Year 6, the children stay at Norfolk Lakes Manor Adventure.

We strongly believe that residential visits are extremely beneficial for supporting children’s personal development and the excursions allow children to develop their social skills with their peers in a completely new environment. Children learn to collaborate, communicate and cooperate with others, which develops their teamwork and interpersonal skills. Residential visits can also foster personal growth in children by challenging them to step out of their comfort zones and to try new things. Children may face many new situations, such as trying new foods, and navigating a range of scenarios without their parents or carers present. These experiences can build their self-confidence, resilience and adaptability.

The costs of residential visits can be high, as such, we give families as much notice as possible and set up payment plans so that the costs can be spread over many months. If a child is identified as Pupil Premium, there is financial support available for visits and residentials.

Year 4 – Whitwell Hall – 3 days, 2 nights (April)

Whitwell Hall offers a unique experience for our younger children to spend time away from home and to get back to nature! The children are immersed in the outdoors from start to finish with a range of activities such as den building, pond dipping, bat walking, campfire lighting and cooking outdoors! There are a range of practical activities too, including pottery, boat making and paracord craft.

Year 6 – Norfolk Lakes Manor Adventure – 3 days, 2 nights (February)

Norfolk Lakes offers our children a variety of adventurous pursuits for them to experience and enjoy. The range of activities allows our children to demonstrate their communication and team building skills whilst challenging their own resilience and skill. The day starts with us all sharing a hearty breakfast together before working in teams through the challenges set by the enthusiastic centre leaders. From canoeing, climbing and orienteering to archery, low-ropes and raft building, there are countless opportunities for our children not only to challenge themselves but to build friendships and memories together.
