Vision Statement
Design Technology sparks children’s curiosity and gives them opportunities to work within real world applications. At Hethersett Woodside children are given the opportunity to work creatively to solve problems using different principles.
Our curriculum is ambitious and gives children opportunities to freely design, using their imagination. They redevelop designs and act upon their own evaluations to create products with specific functions and uses.
Within each unit children are given opportunities to explore existing products, design their own versions before creating and evaluating their work. This design cycle is used across every unit that children are taught.
Children will study a food & technology unit every year. This ensures children develop a strong understanding of how to cook a variety of dishes, developing their life skills. Across years 1 – 6 children will have two units of each of these domains:
- Textiles
- Construction
- Mechanisms
- Mechanical systems
- Electronic systems
Hethersett Woodside strives for an ambitious, inclusive and creative DT curriculum where all children can achieve.
