Behaviour

To guide us in our behaviour management at Woodside, we employ a variety of techniques from the Steps programme (Step On and Step Up): schools.norfolk.gov.uk/article/29546/What-is-Norfolk-Steps.  Staff in the school are trained in Step On and therefore have completed training on the following:

  • Understanding relevant legislation/guidance
  • How our school ethos/culture affects wellbeing and behaviour
  • Factors that underpin behaviour
  • What inclusion is and how to use behaviour support plans to support this
  • Understanding the link between the brain and behaviour
  • How to analyse behaviour at baseline and at escalation
  • De-escalation, repairing and restoring
  • Non-restrictive physical interventions

Many staff are also trained in Step Up, which involves being able to safely use more restrictive physical interventions.
